How to get items removed from your credit report
There are items in your credit report that are not according to your real
credit report situation. You can find out information on your credit
report that is not yours: judgments against people with similar names, and
duplicates which are very common. Sometimes the debt that you had already
paid might appear as unpaid. Ask the credit bureau to investigate the
situation and they have to give an answer in 30 days. In case they do not
give you an answer in 30 days than the items that you have demand for will
be removed from your credit report.
In some states the law requires shorter terms. Credit reports use FICO
scores to be presented; FICO scores represent a formula invented by Fair
Isaac and Co. But this formula is not well known by the public. However
the general public does not know it. Some things might help you get better
credit scores such as: mortgages, automobile loans that are paid in full,
few opened credits on low balances, not changing the address in your
history living, What makes your score not too attractive to credit
companies is: obvious late payments and bankruptcy, many revolving credit
card accounts, too many inquiries, high balances on credit cards, many
recently-opened accounts.
Theoretically this information stays on your credit report for indefinite
time. Federal law FCRA requires that any negative remark will be removed
after seven years while serious items like bankruptcy could remain
forever. However you can get items removed from your credit report by
addressing a written demand to the Federal Bureau. Probably you already
know what a credit report contains: address, phone numbers, Social
Security number, aliases and date of birth. The information is reported by
banks and credit debtors to credit bureaus. Other information comes from
public records and your credit report contains also information about
bills, charge cards and so on.
As you know a good credit score is above 660. If you keep borrowing your
credit will drop so the idea is to use your credit in a wise manner. You
can check your credit report at
FreeCreditReport.com which is a site who
offers a free credit report and it collaborates with
Equifax, TransUnion,
and Experian (the three major credit bureaus in the state. The
institutional loans are driven by credit and having a good credit score is
a good asset, if it is used wisely.
